This is my first attempt at RPF, so I'm a tad hesitant about sharing it; however, I think it's pretty hot so I'm going ahead and posting it.

This story takes place during DB's affair, and it's based on the saucy text messages he supposedly sent out. All the rest of the info is inside. I sort of ended up making him sound like an arrogant asshole, but that's the way it came out and somehow it just makes it hotter...

I know that there are probably only about two of you that are still waiting for more of this one, especially since it's been nearly a year since I started it - but I'm determined to finish it and there should be just one more chapter after this one.
TITLE: Brotherhood Of The Traveling Shirt - Part 9

SUMMARY: I'd seen some of the pics from Kane's shows in Nashville last year, and read all of the questions about him wearing the same shirt David had on at an earlier convention. It got me wondering about what the real story was behind the shirt. Here's what came of that. - Dave's involved with both James and Chris and lying to each of them. In the last chapter, they found out what had really been going on and Chris planned to confront Dave.
A/N - The chapters were alternated between myself and hellsbells up to chapter 7. 1, 3, 5, 7 and all new chapters are mine - 2, 4, and 6 were hers.

A/N: There's a small mention of NB being an alcoholic in this chapter, so I'll remind everyone that this is fiction and you won't need to let me know that what I've said about him isn't true. None of it's true, even if I work very hard to convince myself otherwise!

"To prove to myself that this," he pointed between himself and James, "didn't really mean anything. Now we're done. I want you to stay away from me. We work together. That's all." He turned his back to James, hand on the doorknob.
"Dave…"
"I'm done."
Those were the last words he said to James, leaving the small office without a backward glance.

SUMMARY: After James finally makes love to David, things go horribly wrong. Dave panics and demands to go home. Now James has spent days trying to contact him with no answer and they are seeing each other for the first time, on set, since they were together in the hotel room.

"Dave - I… I don't understand what's happening."
Jerking his jacket on and stalking over to the door, one hand on the knob, panicked look on his face, Dave shook his head. "Just get dressed… please. I need to get out of here."
He turned away, pressing his forehead to the door, back to James, shoulders shaking. James was across the room in a second, hand on Dave's big shoulder, turning him around, biting his own lip when he saw the unshed tears in David's eyes.
"Tell me what I can do to make it better… please."
"I shouldn't have… I can't do this… I'm not gay." Dave sank to the floor, jacket bunching up behind him as he slid down the door. "I don't want... this."
James sat down with David, arms wound around him and this time Dave didn't push him away, just sat there limp in the circle of James' arms. "I'm sorry… shit, Dave, I didn't mean to make you feel that way. I thought you were okay - I thought you wanted…"
Dave shook his head, "I just need to go. Get dressed - please?"
Nodding, James stood and dressed quickly as Dave stayed in the same spot, leaning against the door, eyes wet but not crying, neither of them saying anything.
When they were both in the car again, James driving fast as the sun was going down, James looked at David. "Dave?"
Eyes closed tight, David held his hands up, "Don't - please. I don't wanna talk about it… I can't talk about it."
